How You Can Serve

Jefferson Avenue Presbyterian Church (JAPC) is committed to serving Christ in the midst of Detroit. Volunteering is a great way to show your faith, and to meet other people in the congregation. Every contribution of time and talent helps! Whatever your talents you have, there is a place for you to serve at JAPC.


Needs vary in this weekly program. You can be a Tutor on Tuesday afternoons from 3-5 p.m., bring a healthy snack for 35 kids, or help with enrichment activities.


JAPC and other volunteers staff the Eden Gives food stop in the Jefferson Avenue Presbyterian Church parking lot on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays from Noon to 2pm.


During the winter of each year, JAPC offers a variety of programs for middle-schoolers (6th - 8th grade at Nichols Elementary School Share your skills, be a mentor through one on one interaction! Help provide snacks! Call the church to volunteer.


Each Spring JAPC welcomes the homeless for a stay at the church. Your contribution can range from sharing or preparing a meal to being a church attendant to supply hospitality essentials (travel size toiletries, blankets, plastic pillow covers and laundry detail).


Twice a year, JAPC serves the greater community through hosting a Blood Drive. Distribute flyers to your co-workers, neighbors, and friends, prepare a meal for volunteers or donate blood.


JAPC teams with those in need throughout the nation and has scheduled a relief and assistance trip for adults. Discover new ways you can help others in different locations.


JAPC has several committees that serve the church in many capacities from neighborhood outreach to church growth to building and grounds maintenance. Find your unique place of service with JAPC today!
